MEETING OF THE AD HOC COMMITTEE ON FACILITATION OF THE VOLUNTEER RETURN OF
REFUGEES AND IDPS AS A RESULT OF THE GEORGIAN-OSSETIAN CONFLICT TO THE PLACES
OF THEIR FORMER PERMANENT RESIDENCE

Chairman:
Machavariani Irakli – personal representative of the
President of Georgia on political problems of national security and settlement
of conflicts, head of the Georgian side of the JCC.
Agenda of the meeting:
1. Information of the sides about the conducted
work.
2. Organizational issues.
3. On time and date of the next meeting.
The floor was taken by: Machavariani, Kachmazov,
Chochiev, Keinashvili, Pirtskhalava, Kublashvili, Machabeli, Shmetov, Andrew,
Olsen, Kushpel, and Ambalov.
It was decided:
1. To take note of the information of the sides,
generally positively assessing the conducted work.
2. To take
note of the Georgian side’s membership of the Committee (attached).
3. To take note of the secretariat’s composition of
the Committee (attached).
4. To approve practice of meetings of
representatives of the Georgian and South Ossetian sides with the refugees,
temporarily residing on the territory of the Republic of the North
Ossetia-Alania.
5. To
organize the special meetings of the Committee, dedicated to specific districts
of return of refugees and IDPs.
6. To carry
out measures, facilitating the creation of positive information background for
return of refugees and IDPs.
7. To mediate
before the respective institutions on establishment of Fax connection for the
South Ossetian part of the Committee.
8. The next
meeting of the Committee shall be held on January 23, 1997 in Vladikavkaz.
