Chapter XIII

Transitional Provisions

Article 64. Temporary Procedure for Conferring the Status of a Self-Governig Entity

1. The Status of a Self-Governig entity shall be conferred to the following as of January 1 2006:

a) towns of Georgia that are not part of any district;

b) districts of Georgia;

g) communities of Eredvi, Kurta, Tigvi, and Adjara.

2. For municipalities that represent an array of settlements, the administrative center shall be the respective district administrative center as of January 1 2006, whereas the administrative centers of the municipalities of Eredvi, Kurta, Tegvi and Adjara shall be the respective administrative centers of the communities as of January 1 2006.

3. On the territory of Georgia that is beyond the Georgian jurisdiction, the procedure for establishing local self-government bodies and their rights and responsibilities shall be determined upon restoration of the Georgia’s jurisdiction in view of the conditions stipulated by this Law.
