LAW OF THE REPUBLIC OF GEORGIA ON INTRODUCING ADDITIONAL ARTICLES TO THE CRIMINAL CODE OF THE REPUBLIC OF GEORGIA

The Parliament of Georgia resolves as follows:

The Criminal Code of the Republic of Georgia approved by law of the Georgian SSR of December 30 1960 (records of the Supreme Soviet of the Georgian SSR, 1961, ¹1, Article 10) shall be supplemented with Articles 651 and 811 that have the following content:

“Article 651. Genocide

Genocide, i. e. the action committed with the purpose of complete or partial extermination of any national, ethnic, racial, religious or any other group, which is expressed in killing members of such group, serious health damages, purposely creating hard living conditions, reduction of birth rate by force or transfer of a child by force from one ethnic group to another, -

- shall be punishable by deprivation of liberty for the period from ten to fifteen years, with confiscation of property, or by a death penalty, with confiscation of property”.

1. This law shall enter into effect immediately after publishing.
