OFFICIAL STATEMENT OF
CENTRAL ELECTION COMMITTEE OF THE REPUBLIC OF SOUTH OSSETIA on the results of the referendum of the Republic of South Ossetia
held on 12 November 2006
The central election committee of the Republic of South Ossetia,
at its sitting on 14 November 2006, considered and summed up the results of the
national vote at the referendum of the Republic of South Ossetia
held on 12 November 2006. Based on the protocols of the territorial election
commissions the Central Election Committee of the Republic of South Ossetia
drew up a final protocol on the results of the referendum.
The total number of the
citizens, included on the electoral role was 55163 persons. From which 52443
persons voted, that is 95,1%. To the question “Do you
agree that Republic
of South Ossetia should
preserve its current status of an independent state and was recognized by an
international community” was supported by 52 378 persons, which makes 99,88%, 60 persons or 0,12% voted against.
Central Electoral

of South Ossetia stated
that the referendum was considered valid and the issue raised at the referendum
was nationally approved.
