APPEAL OF THE CHAIRMAN OF THE SUPREME COUNCIL OF THE REPUBLIC OF ABKHAZIA V. ARDZINBA TO THE PRESIDENT OF THE RUSSIAN FEDERATION B. N. YELTSIN

Dear Boris Nikolayevich,

The Abkhaz people accepted with a great appreciation and gratitude Your firm and decisive position on the termination of war in Abkhazia.

We strongly believe that the peace efforts of Russia, despite Georgia’s resistance, will definitely bring the long-expected peace.

I take this advantage to assure You again, Boris Nikolaevich that the Abkhaz people has a strong aspiration to join the Russian Federation. This aspiration is reflected in the Appeal of the Supreme Council of the Republic of Abkhazia of 23 March 1993 and it will be endorsed in the nearest future at the all-Abkhaz meeting of people’s representatives.

Chairman of the Supreme Council of the Republic of Abkhazia Ardzinba
