THE LAW OF THE REPUBLIC OF GEORGIA on Changes and Amendments to the Constitution (the Supreme Law) of the Republic of Georgia

The Supreme Council of the Republic of Georgia decrees:

In accordance to the law of the Republic of Georgia “on Abolishing the South Ossetian Autonomous Oblast” to introduce the relevant changes to the Constitution of the Republic of Georgia:

1.  To delete Chapter 9.

2.  To delete from the Constitution the following words:

a) From article 71 (1) – “and the South Ossetian Autonomous Oblast”;

b) From article 72 (8) and 119 (1) – “The South Ossetian Autonomous Oblast”;

c) From article 85 -  The South Ossetian Autonomous Oblast”;

d) From article 104 (11) – “shall determine and change the Council of People’s Deputies of the Autonomous Oblast”;

e) d) From article 104 (11) – “also the Council of People’s Deputies of the Autonomous Oblast”;

f) From article 108 (2), article 110(1) and 111 (1) – “the Council of People’s Deputies of the Autonomous Oblast”;

g) From article 112 (2) – “the chairman of the Council of People’s Deputies of the Autonomous Oblast”;

h) From article 119 (2) – “Resolutions of people’s deputies of the autonomous oblast”;

i)  From article 125 (2), 141(1), 153 and 171 – “of the Autonomous Oblast”;

j)From article 128 (1) – “also abolish the (…) of the Council of People’s Deputies of the South Ossetian Autonomous Oblast ”;

k) From 163 (2) – “the Council of People’s Deputies of the South Ossetian Autonomous Oblast”;

l) From article 164 (3) – “the court of the autonomous oblast” and “the Council of People’s Deputies of the Autonomous Oblast”;

Art. 362-362

b) From article 177 (1) “and of the autonomous oblast” and “the Council of People’s Deputies of the Autonomous Oblast”.

3.  To add in article 71 (2) of the Constitution after the word “Aspindza”, the word – “Akhalgori”; after the word “Zestafoni”, the word – “Znauri”; after the word “Tsageri”, the word “Tskhinvali”; after the word “Khoni”, the word “Java”; after the word “Kutaisi”, the word “Tskhinvali”.

4.  To add to article 72 (3) of the Constitution the following words “abolishment of the autonomous oblast”.

5.  To word article 113 (14) as follows:

“(…) shall publish the laws and other acts of the Republic of Georgia adopted by the Supreme Council of the Republic of Georgia, the Presidium of the Supreme Council of Georgia and the chairman of the Supreme Council of the Republic of Georgia in Georgian and Russian languages, and for the autonomous republics – in a language of the autonomous republic”
